Slump Day

I confess. I have not done a single stitch on the Daisy Afghan today. I barely even touched my hook. It was an exhausting day, so I'm off to bed. I hope the prospect of Halloween isn't too scary for you mothers of little ones out there. I know *I* am not looking forward to the hoopla, but the kids are.

Trying a new border, a few squares

Here are a few squares from Palmdale, CA. I have the pattern fro the pinwheels square (bottom right), but it it VERY awesome in person!








All of these came from a mother-daughter team in Grants Pass, OR!!! Wow!










Here's what I worked on yesterday on the afghan. I joined that last vertical row and edged one round of sc. I am trying to invent a new border - I have visions of a scalloped ripple all along the sides, after these half-circles all around, I will do a round of color, then a round of black, then another of color, another of black, etc. It's all still in the "figuring" stage, so keep your fingers crossed!

Nearly joined

I don't have a picture yet this morning (will try later today), but I got all of the horizontals joined, and 2 of the 4 verticals joined. After the 2 verticals, I'm going to wash this, because working on it is making my allergies act up a lot. From now on, I will be washing the squares before I use them to prevent this. I love getting to the border stage - I LOVE coming up with new and different borders!

I got my first request from Japan today!

Rows Joined

I didn't finish the dragonfly afghan until about 10PM last night. I'm listening to a book on tape (Ridley Pearson's "The Art of Deception") and got to a good part of the story, so I stayed up a little too late. The squares had already been bordered earlier this summer, so all I have to do is join them for this one. I've got four rows of horizontals joined. This afghan will have 45 squares as compared to the 40 of previous afghans. Time to go do laundry! (Any takers to come and help? Mount Foldmore is really starting to grow!)

I have nearly finished the dragonfly afghan - only some weaving left to do. By tomorrow, I hope to be chuggin' away on squares! I have a black afghan that is in progress, so I'll start with that one!

Sorted and stacked

Saturday afternoon, my daughter and I measured all of the squares, then sorted them by color and size. It's a lot easier on me to edge and join squares of all the same size. You can see here the one side of the bed is white squares. The other is black squares. Each pile is a different size, grouped by 1/2" increments. The middle piles are the 8" and 8 1/2" squares. I don't think you can tell, but they are THREE piles deep. I have 3 afghans of afghans that are all sorted by size, color and hue. The others aren't easy matches like that, so I'll be combining sizes and working extra rounds to make them match. (Or sc on the bigger ones, dc on the smaller ones, something like that!)

I'm still working on my dragonfly afghan. Once that is done, it's MARATHON TIME!!!
