I have squares coming in like crazy!

For a few statistics, I have received 830 requests for squares to date. I have received squares from 181 of those people, and they have sent me over 400 squares! (FYI: You can see the progress bar down on the right - we are up to nearly 22% of the people sending in their squares!)

I have run out of the little tags I buy from Walmart to label the city and state of the squares, so I am having to make my own (SLOW) until I get to the store. I LOVE those tags!

It's a big ordeal getting these pictures taken (at least, with the crazy way my life is!), so I think I'm going to do pictures on Fridays. I got a LOT of squares this week, woo-hoo! Now, if you're keeping track, I have a percentage bar on the right hand that shows what percentage of people have sent their square in. We're at 20% right now, and I'd like to bring that up some!

Red, White and Blue is DONE!

This is a pattern from "A year of Afghans" by Leisure Arts #996. This is the month of October and is actually made in the colors specified (a rarity for me!).

It will be going to the Williamstowne Apartments for their Senior Assistance Chinese Auction.

I love this afghan - very easy to work up, and very striking!

Just keeping you informed...

I am NEARLY done with the Red, White & Blue afghan. I was completely lazy and didn't weave the ends in for the last 80% of the afghan, so now I'm paying the price. I hope to finish the ends and get the border going tonight. I always seem to have trouble keeping my borders flat when it says to "work evenly", so I'm going to try crocheting it while it's flat on my kitchen table (which is huge) and just work my way around the table.

I have a few BAGS of daisy squares that I have received, and I will get everything photographed on Friday and up here all at once.

A contest...

I will be doing something new in the next month. I have been keeping track of those people that I have received squares from, and it's only been about 17% of the people who have requested them. STILL, I have received a great number of squares! I thought it would be a little fun to see if we can bring that percentage up by holding a contest.

Here is what the prize will be:
I will send one of these beautiful afghans to any DESIGNATED non-profit organization in the continental US. It will be in honor or in memoriam of whoever you would like it donated in name of. You must be able to provide me with the organization's name and mission, and a website if possible. It can be a nursing home, hospice, homeless shelter, battered women's shelter, hospital, etc.

In order to win:
You must be on record with me in my email address book as having sent in a square. That's all! Each person that has sent in their square has an equal opportunity of winning.

So, if you've already sent in your square, you will already be entered!

If you haven't gotten your square in, you have until June 30th to get it here! Those who are in foreign countries are still eligible to win, but the afghan must be sent to somewhere in the continental US.

I will be announcing the winner on July 4th!

A week's worth of squares!
