US and Canada

Here are some squares I've received in the last couple of days... Bottom row: two on left are from San Jose, CA; white daisy from Quincy, IL; Two the same on the right are from Kemptville, ONT (Canada); Yellow daisy with variegate center from Quincy, IL; Turquoise on Black from Welland, ONT (Canada)...

The requests are STILL coming in! I've sent out an email to the remaining square makers to see if they can have them in before January 31st. Then, I'm going to start assembling what I have! YAY!

I didn't get a chance to post these squares - they all came in on Friday:

The top one is from Bellafonte, PA

The four on the left (two black, two white) are from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. The two on the right are from Camarillo, CA.

A Baker's Dozen

I received a HUGE envelope with 12 squares in it! And I'm pretty sure I've already received squares from this lady already, too. I am overwhelmed by your generosity! All of the white background (12) are from Goleta, CA. The black background at the top (sorry the pic is dark - the nights come so early here now) is from Rockwell, TX. All of them are wonderful!

Sorry for the blurry picture!

Popping in

Well, it never fails. It's Christmas, and I am sick! I just wanted to let you know, in case you've been checking the blog for new squares. I did get one today, but really don't have the energy to take the pic, etc. I hope to get rid of this cough before the holiday. I am quite impressed that anyone's able to get ANY of these squares done during the holidays. I expect to see a bunch in January when everyone's recovered from their frantic finish of presents. I'll get that new pic up as soon as I can - it's another pretty variegated! :D

Six More - see the holiday yarn! L@@K

Here are six more from Wenatchee, WA. Thanks for your generosity - this one woman has sent me 12 squares!

Each one is as beautiful as the next, but check out the red flower! You can't see it too well in the pic, but that's the holiday yarn with the silver streak through it - it is GORGEOUS in person. And of course - LOVE THOSE VARIEGATEDS! LOL!

Valley Stream, NY

Here are two from Valley Stream, NY - in Caron SS!

Love the brights! :D

Chemo Cap Thank You

I received this picture from the recipient of the chemo cap. Her sister says that she loves it, and also said something else that made me think... I have always done these to make the wearer feel more comfortable physically and emotionally. But it never occurred to me that wearing a chemo cap that was PRETTY would make the wearer feel pretty because of everyone's positive comments.

Her sister says "She is getting such compliments on the cap you crocheted. The nurses and everyone at the clinic last week just went on and on about it and she also said that people in stores commented on it. Thanks for making it some better for her."

Buncha buncha flowers!

Here are 6 that I received today. The one with the black background was one I made. I published instructions on a yahoo group with pictures and needed to do another square to use for pictures. The top two with the white background are from Clinton TWP, MI. The next row of three are from Goleta, CA. The bottom one is from Rockford, MI.

A lot of ladies are sending apologies for not sending exactly the right pastel shade, etc. Others are apologizing for not getting it "right". I'll tell you - I have yet to receive a square that I can't use! I'm thankful for all your efforts, especially those of you who have sent MULTIPLE squares. You're all wonderful people and have done a great job - I can't wait to get these afghans together and you can all be proud of your wonderful labors of love!

There is also NO deadline. I hope to START putting these afghans together after the first, but if squares keep getting requested and keep trickling in, I hope to add some of my own squares (because Lord knows I have a HUGE stash!) and make many afghans! Keep the requests for pattern and the squares coming in!

MULTICOLORS!

Here are FIVE from Wenatchee, WA and another from Atlanta, GA. The five multicolored ones
are from WA. OK, you say - those five don't have a black OR a white background. You're right! It wasn't that I had an affinity for black and white backgrounds, it's just that I thought that would be the easiest to make sure they all sorta matched. I'm going to work these into the black and/or white background afghans - maybe in the center, maybe in the corners, I dunno! I'll see what I've got and where they "go". I'll tell ya, though - I'm finding just HOW MUCH I love the variegateds. My kids said the two green/blues remind them of geckos, the one in the bottom center reminds them of rainbow sherbet. Here's more ideas for those out there thinking of what colors to make THEIR squares for their own use!

Five More! One from around the corner!

Here are five more. Two ares from a city only 30 minutes from me. You say "well, of course - it's close!"

But when you think about it, there are greater odds that the squares will be from anywhere else than the closest town to me, since I only distributed it through the Internet.

The top left is from Marysville, MI. Bottom left is from Flomaton, AL (this one person keeps sending me more and more squares, THANKS!). Next two are from Buffalo, NY. The pink on is actually a FIESTA yarn and is very cute. One on the right is from Winter Haven, FL. (I could use a haven from winter pretty soon!)

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

The NETHERLANDS!

Another foreign square! My son was so thrilled to get yet another square from abroad. The yarn is thinner than the 4-ply we have, but it has a completely different texture to it! It is so intriguing to see the yarn from across the world!

This square is quite smaller than most of the others, but I have received several this size. I have decided that I will group the small ones together in a cluster in the middle of the afghan, and create a central motif that I surround with the larger squares. These afghans will be so great!
