First Strip Done

Here is the first strip of the "Spring Throw". It went together pretty quickly. My neighbor will be visiting Children's in September (don't know when?) so I hope to have this done by then. I have all my projects scheduled out so I can get them done by Xmas, so I am only working on this one when my daily "allotment" of those projects is done. I ran into a bit of a glitch because the yellow is wound on the ball with two strands. I had a big jumble by the time I was done with the yellow round on this one! Think I've got the problem solved, though.

Preemie Hats

This blog is giving me troubles trying to post pictures! Argh! But, I got some preemie hats done in that pretty yarn from C0001. I ran out on the 2nd one before it was long enough and pulled some Baby Clouds from my stash to finish it out. It was the only thing I had that was as soft as the ecru for the top. But OH! Didn't it just turn out so cute? I love the idea of a brim. I will have to make more like this. These will likely go to Children's Hospital in Buffalo - I have a neighbor that visits frequently. I'll ask her if she'll take them in next time she goes.

Started a new afghan "Spring Throw"

I started an afghan with my new treasures. It is white with pastel yellow and blue, and is a pattern called "Spring Throw" from Quick & Cozy Afghans. All of this yarn came from E0002, and it should work up quickly because I'm using a K hook. Keep in mind I have 6 other blankets (all Xmas presents for friends & Family) so it isn't going to FLY! It has vertical strips that are white in the middle, then yellow worked around the white, then blue worked around that. I will post a picture when I get the first strip done! I figure it will look really nice for a toddler boy - it should wind up about 60" long and about 40" wide. I have a friend in Roswell, maybe her family would take it in for me when it's done.

Picked it ALL up!

Well I will try this again! First time I accidentally deleted this. I picked up about 30 POUNDS of yarn today! I see some matching skeins and balls, which will make whole afghans with little effort at matching! I found some hot pinks, oranges and lime from C0001 which will match my "Tween" daisy afghan I have in progress. It's orange, hot pink, lime, grape, turquoise and sunshine yellow. Psychedelic!

I have a bag of rug and craft yarn from K0005 which I think I will make walker caddies out of, too. E0002 already wound HUGE balls of yarn for me, some pretty blues and off-whites. I have to weigh those to see what size blanket they'll make - whether I want to add some darker blues for a big afghan or just keep it as is for a baby afghan. A0003 has some pretty peaches, and I already have a ton of peach here - hopefully the hues will match and I can make them all work together.

I think first on the list will be some preemie hats from this really fluffy chunk cream yarn from C0001. Forgot to mention that S0004 not only gave me yarn, but about 15 grannies already made with it! Can you get any better than that? Looks like I can match the gauge pretty well, too. Thank you ladies!

Now, I have to go hide this all before DH comes home. It's always better if this stuff just magically "appears" when I want it, rather than he see the bags come in! We all have our little ways, don't we?

Ready for pickup

Tomorrow will be cool! I'm picking up a whole bunch of yarn from donors...I've only gotten donations from people I've known before, so this is great! I have "C" from Colden, "E" from West Seneca, "S" from Lancaster, and "K" in Alden. I can't wait to see what I get, then to plan great afghans.

Introduction

I have decided to keep a blog to document my charity blankets. Since I have received so many donations of yarn, I figure some of these people might want to see the finished product that is donated, as well as know where the blankets went to!
